Meet Joseph Velazquez

I started at Planet Depos in the field, but moved into management four years ago. Before that, I worked in the film and television industry for over 10 years where I honed my video, audio and leadership skills on features, reality television, documentaries and corporate video sets. I went back to university for political science and then worked in government for the Chairman of Appropriations Committee in the Georgia State Senate for two years. I started working as a Legal Videographer while taking a break from law school…and then never went back. Little did I know at the time a short-term job would blossom into a career that would use every skill I had developed across wildly different industries.

There are currently 100+ Digital Court Reporters on our team – and every single one of them has graduated from the PD C.O.R.E. Training Academy. I will always be immensely proud of the way the team came together and innovated at the strike of the COVID-19 crises. They sacrificed, brainstormed, tested, troubleshot, developed, redeveloped and trained our people on how to professionally and effectively conduct depositions remotely so not only the company, but the industry, could go on. I will always be inspired by a group of people working together towards a shared goal, and that was one of the finest examples I’ve ever seen of it – a proud legacy and ethos the department carries to this day.

I was born in Miami, FL and moved to Alpharetta, GA when I was 14. After years in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Washington D.C., I currently live in Sarasota, FL with my wonderful wife, Hilary, and our 15-month-old son Desmond. In my free time, I write creatively and sing karaoke poorly, but loudly. Occasionally, I’ll do both at the same time.
