The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country that is very impactful in the Middle East. A tourist or business visa is required for entry into the UAE when traveling from the United States. A traveler is not able to obtain either before departure but the good news is that it can be issued upon arrival in the UAE. When traveling to the United Arab Emirates, there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Current state of your passport
   • Your passport will need to be valid for at least 90 days from your departure date in the United Arab Emirates
   • Ensure that your passport has two (2) unused pages in the Visas section before any
2. Be aware of any connecting flights you will experience and whether or not a visa is required in those countries.

Currently, there are no specific vaccinations required to travel to the United Arab Emirates.

Money Matters

The currency in the United Arab Emirates is the UAE Dirham. The U.S. Dollar can be exchanged for the Dirham currency easily when traveling to the UAE. However, you will find that the custom of banking is slightly different than the United States. In the UAE, banks are open Saturday through Thursday and are not open on Fridays. Weather

The seasonal climate in the UAE, specifically Dubai, is every warm weather traveler’s dream. There is not any month in the year that doesn’t average above 70°F. December through March can experience small rainstorms and sometimes thunderstorms but in comparison the United States, there is very little rainfall in the UAE and you can expect to experience wonderfully warm temperature and sun all year long.

Voltage Information

The voltage in the UAE is 220/240V. Although some outlets in the country will work with U.S. plug types and voltages, travelers should bring voltage converters and plug adapters for all of your U.S. appliances.
