This year has, among other things, given us the opportunity to do virtually everything online. As we close the door on 2020, let’s take a look back at a few of the cool things we’ve learned to do remotely. Maybe you haven’t yet tried something on this list and could give it a shot in 2021.
Take your depositions! Of course, Planet Depos was well versed in remote depositions long before the pandemic. We make it happen everywhere, remember, and have been using remote technology to connect attorneys in the U.S. to depos all the way around the globe for over a decade. But for many of you, remote depos were a new thing. Now you too are veterans, with expert advice to pass on to your witness, your virtual stage set for best video and audio, your NOD accurately worded for a remote deposition, etc.
If you’re looking for a refresher on some remote deposition topics, be sure to read our tips on how to get the best interpretation in a virtual depo. Or, maybe you’d like to learn more about how realtime court reporting has been adapting to online depositions, and just how useful it can be to you. Also, don’t forget to build the ultimate home office setup for your remote work life!
Take a class! From cooking to painting to dancing or DIY projects, this has been a great year to learn a new skill or revive or improve an old one. Many of us abandoned our commute to the office this year and find ourselves with more time, so why not whip up some gourmet meals, engage in an online book club (stimulating conversation when you’re feeling couped up? Yes, please!) or tackle some home projects with some online assistance? Maybe there’s a career-oriented class you’ve been considering that you now have time to take!
Boost morale with remote team-building activities! Yes, this can be done, and it can be a lot of fun. The incredibly popular Escape Room fad can be given the virtual twist, you can play office trivia, or any kind of trivia, really, or a mystery game with everyone guessing at clues. Pictionary is a favorite among a group of us at Planet Depos and has produced a few long-running jokes. There are lots of creative suggestions available, you guessed it, online.
Save more time with grocery delivery services! This service has become popular in recent years and, with the pandemic, has understandably exploded. If you are looking for ways to further limit your time out and about, or simply to save more time, there is surely an option for you! Instacart, Peapod, Shipt, and Amazon Fresh are all popular options, and stores like Safeway and Walmart offer delivery as well. Check out options in your area as well as minimum requirements to see if this is something you’d like to try or set up for a loved one, perhaps!
Explore the world outside. This one can be all virtual or a mix. Pull up your state parks online and plan some fun excursions in your own backyard! This is a pleasant way to get some exercise and Vitamin D and it is easy to distance in a big, beautiful state park. You can also just get online and research for your next trip, wherever and whenever that may be. Planning is half the fun, right? (Even when you get a little spontaneous and don’t stick to those carefully laid plans!) There are, of course, virtual tours available as well, which will take you all over the world, from Yosemite to the Maldives to Mount Everest, and as many museums as you please.
Download an app that burns calories. Remote life can get depressing as we feel the urge to become a little couch potato-like. Fight the virtual blues with a fitness app! Working up a sweat is a sure way to boost your mood and productivity. It also ensures a good night’s sleep, giving your immunity an extra boost, and there’s no better time for that little push than in a pandemic, right? With so many apps and options around, you’ll find one that suits your style and schedule.
Planet Depos has been covering remote depositions all over the world for more than a decade. For information or tips on remote depositions, or to schedule your 2021 depositions, contact Planet Depos Scheduling at 888.433.3767, or even schedule online.
